There are many different kinds of love. I knew I loved my husband when he helped me find a reliable babysitter. We had been dating (I was a single mom) and he was participating with the interviews and paid for the background check. It was then I realized I could trust him. I am not really sure if there's a way to quantify the feeling.

IMO, Love is a choice. It's an active state of caring. Love doesn't just happen all by itself, not in the long term anyway. Good things DON'T last if you don't keep working on them. I wake up every day and choose to love my husband. Some days that's an easy choice, he's a wonderful and compassionate man who would do anything for me. But some days it's hard, some days he drives me crazy with his impulsive choices and his (sometimes) selfish nature. But I love him anyway.

I knew I loved my husband about a month after we met. It was a week after my dad died unexpectedly and I felt like my whole life was crashing down around me. Then there was this guy who I barely knew, who had never met my dad, and we'd get together after I got off work and things were just... normal. He never asked about how I was coping or pressed the conversation in any way towards my dad. If I wanted to talk, he listened. If not, we just spent time doing normal things. We weren't even dating for another 3 months. But he was my "safe place" when I lost the most important person in my whole life. 
 We started as friends, then became lovers, and eventually partners.

I knew I loved him 2 months after we started dating, when he brought me a single rose to me at work because he knew I had been having a bad day. It meant so much more than he'll ever know. I knew right then that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with him. :)
