Surgery?

Question

I've heard people have been getting sugery for endo. Can someone explain the reason for it? I have endo but haven't really looked into it much. Worried ill have to get surgery..

I just had my laparoscopy a couple of weeks ago. My dr "cleaned up" the endo, took care of some cysts, and found that one of my tubes was strangling my ovary (that's actually the reason I had the surgery-we knew my tube was blocked from a previous test) and then I was diagnosed with endo during the surgery (although it was suspected). The laparoscopy is minimally invasive, a super easy surgery. I wouldn't hve done it, though, if I hadn't been having such a hard time conceiving. The pain I have is manageable.

people get surgery for endo when their management strategies fail and their lives are greatly impacted as a result of the pain that endo causes. it is a last resort. generally the surgery is not too bad, they laser or cut out the endometium (i think that's what they call it??) the growths to allow relief from the pain. I am booked to get surgery in 2 months, my surgeon has warned me that there could be complications as my endo is effecting my bowels but generally it isn't to bad to deal with. it is expensive tho!
