Am I being too dramatic because im offended that my boyfriend says he hates when I wear makeup?

I don't think it's a compliment when people say "You're too pretty to wear makeup." (that's just me) I've been hearing it all my life and I hate it. Im currently about to enroll in cosmetology school and im even considering it to be something I would want to do prefessionally, I love doing it and love doing it for other people. And for him to say that hurts because I know im good at it. I get compliments on my makeup all the time.. and idk. I don't get it. It hurts that he doesn't support what I love.

I use to wear make up every day, but then my SO told me he hates when I wear it. He says I look better without it. So now, the only time I wear make cup is when I'm going to work, or out for the day. Then, as soon as I come home I clean it off. We compromised.

Have you expressed to him that it bothers you? Maybe he thinks he's giving you a compliment and doesn't realize how important it is to you. Try talking to him about it.

Talk to him about it, tell him you feel hurt when he says it. Also, you shouldn't take it as offense. I know it hurts, but he means well. And I'm sure he supports your dreams as well. Just talk about it

Have you talked to him about how you are feeling? He may not understand what is upsetting you and why. I believe he means that he loves you as yourself and as you are before and after the makeup. He is not meaning that you are not good at what you do, he means you are beautiful before you do it as well. He sees the beauty inside as well as out, I believe there has been a misunderstanding between the two of you. He is trying to show you he cares for you and I believe he just chose the wrong words.

I feel like maybe it is not being taken in the same context that it's meant to be. If he says he doesn't like when you wear makeup, or that you don't need it, then probably he thinks your beautiful without it and that he loves who you are, and could care less If you're not wearing makeup. But saying that to me doesn't translate over to being unsupportive of your passion, or that he thinks you're not good at applying to self and/or others. Maybe it would be good to ask him exactly what he means by it and tell him how you feel about it.
