Period problems
I am about to be 18 years old and have never had a period on my own. The first doctor I went to thought it was my thyroid causing me to not have a period so I went to an endocrinologist to have further testing done. My thyroid turned out to be fine. I then got sent to supposedly a really good ob/gyn. I have had multiple ultrasounds also and everything looked normal on all of them except that I had some ovarian cysts but said they weren't uncommon in females, especially females that had irregular periods. She ended up putting me on progesterone for 2 weeks to see if it would kick start my period. I started within the next day that I was done taking the progesterone. She then immediately put me on birth control to help regulate it and told me after three months to stop taking it to see if I would still have it on my own. I didn't so I had to go back and see her again. When I went back she said that she believed it was something wrong with my adrenal gland and said that it would show my hormone levels on the testing I had done at the endocrinologist. I guess it didn't so she referred me to a fertility specialist that is supposed to be very good with these types of cases. I just had more testing done to get sent back to her office so she could transfer it to my new doctor that she is referring me to. I have been having every sign of a period, but I never actually bleed. This has been going on for over 3 years now and here recently I have been having really bad cramps and headaches. It almost feels like I have flu like symptoms with pretty bad period cramps too. The bad headaches and cramps have been going on every single day for about 4 or 5 weeks now. I was just wondering if anybody else has gone through this or if someone might have a clue of what it might be. My dr mentioned something about my testosterone, progesterone, and estrogen levels but still can't figure it out. It has been a long process I am just looking for answers. Thanks for any help in advance!
