Ttc been a month on trying, today is my period day but no period.

So today is suppose to be my period day but it hasn't come down yet. I took a pregnancy Test not to long ago and I had got a negative. But I was told even if I do take a test and it come out negative but I end up missing my period Its a great possibility that I may be pregnant. Is this a true statement???
