Is neglecting your childs dental care a form of abuse?

I work in the dental field for over 8yrs and it amazes me how many parents sit back and claim to be amazing yet all there child's teeth is rotting away. Its understandable if you don't have dental coverage a lot of people don't but there are free clinics payment plans and many other resources

My husband said growing up he went to the dentist once. I went twice a year until my mid-20's. That's crazy to me. Oral hygiene is extremely important!

To me yes! Shit I think down to not cleaning your childs ears and clippling thier nails and toes is abuse

Absolutely! I hate when people don't take care of their kids teeth, it is hygiene. My parents struggled financially but my sister and I both had braces and work done (I had teeth switched and growing in the wrong spots and my sister had to get her gums on the top of her mouth cut back) I've never had a cavity and I go to the dentist 2x a year. My husband's parents were and are well off but they stopped taking him, nor did they get him braces or his wisdom teeth out. He's finally going next week for the first time in 8+ years because we are paying for all the work to be done! I hate that they didn't take care of their son the way they should have for so long. Teeth are important too.
I've also seen my uncle taking in his new wife's grandchildren who have no teeth because their moms are trash and crackheads. I feel so bad everytime I see kids with teeth rotted out especially  their adult teeth at such a young age. There is no reason to not take care of your kids.

If u consider the amount of adults who don't care for their own teeth... It doesn't surprise me. I think many of them don't realize the importance of
Good Oral Hygiene & have never been taught or educated on the subject & therefore continue the cycle with their own kids. I think if u tell any caring mother she will be in the bathroom every day with her little ones reinforcing how to floss, brush, & use mouth wash regularly and correctly even if they can't afford to see a dentist.

Most schools offer free dental programs where dentists come to the school and give basic dental exams/cleanings/sealants to kids that qualify for free/reduced lunch. There's really no excuse.

I was with my daughter at her dentist the other day and overheard the dentist tell a mother that her kid was going to need a lot of work and have teeth removal due to rot. The kid was only 2 yrs old and the mother said that she had to bring her because she won't  stop eating candy and won't brush her teeth and wanted the dentist to tell her kid that. WTF who's the parent????? No wonder her teeth were rotting out of her mouth that poor thing.

I got my 6 yr daughter used to the dentist since her first tooth came out. She actually enjoys going! I'm the one that gets scared for her especially around cleaning time lol.

I work in dental too and it makes me wanna smack a parent when they do that I honestly think they should have the child taken away
