AF due in 2 days. Took a opt just to see if it would give me any sign of pregnancy since I heard an opk can be used as a hpt since the hormones are almost identical. What are everyone's thoughts?

If you are going to use an opk you must get a true positive. OPKs aren't the same as hpt meaning the test line can't be lighter than the control line. Even with that said I've never tested positive with an opk when I was pregnant so I wouldn't rely on them.

While it is true that you can use an opk to detect hcg, it's not reliable since you always have LH in your system, so depending on how much is in your system, you could produce a line while not pregnant.

In other words, unless it's a strong line, you can't trust it. Good in a pinch, but best to just stick with HPTs ;)
