Uti and a yeast infection?

I am currently being treated for a uti, the doctor prescribed me cephalexin 500mg. I am 3 days in with the medication and I have started feeling this burning and itching sensation. I have also noticed that there was a yellow discharge coming out, although there is no foul odor from it. Is that a side effect of the uti or is it a yeast infection?

Yes it is a yeast infection! I work in healthcare and it's not an uncommon thing to happen to women taking a antibiotic of any kind... What you can do is take a probiotic (you can find plenty OTC at any pharmacy) and you can call up your doc and tell them you have a yeast infection... Most of the time they won't ask any further questions  (since they will see that they recently prescribed you and antibiotic) and phone you in a Diflucan 150 mg - you just take it in one dose and you will feel much better- oh and drink water, water, water! ?

Antibiotics not only kill the bacteria in your stomach but also in your vagina. Once your finished it should return to normal once your body adjusts. Its not abnormal

Is Cefalexin the only med you're taking? I know that certain meds for UTI will turn your urine darker yellow even orange, as well as your normal discharge... I'd still check with your Dr just to be on the safe side ?

I have a uti now, I'm not having discharge, but when I pee, a mixture of blood and pee come out. I always have the urge to pee, and sometimes if I blow off the urge, I'm having to walk to the bathroom with my legs crossed so I don't potentially pee myself. It sucks. It may just be the medicine you're on that's causing the discharge, unless if your uti is worse than mine, then maybe discharge comes when it's worse

When i had a yeast infection it was like a cottage cheese texture and was very itchy in the outside...and the uti it was just burning real bad from the inside

Are you on birth control? Antibiotics can cause yeast infections as a side affect, especially on BC. .yellowish discharge is not normal. Talk to your doctor.  They have a pill you take twice and it will get rid of it. Very common with antibiotics and women. Feel better
