Food safety

I'm from Australia and have just read an article about food safety during pregnancy. Apparently recommendations here cut out a lot more food than the UK and USA. 
It was worried that many women, when eating out, are choosing deep fried 'safe' foods over salad bars and this is having a negative effect on the weight and health of Mum's and unborn babies. 
My question is:
Are you following all food safety recommendations?
