Quit college?

Question

I have never been the type to like school. I have a wonderful job at the moment paying $20 an hour without benefits and I work whenever I want. My fiancé is getting a degree for mechanical engineering. I'm in my first semester of college and I only went because his parents "highly encouraged" college for me. I think it was because their younger kids didn't need to see the example of someone not go to college..
​I want to be a stay at home mom with 5+ kids.. I have a family that farms and would later inherit land I'd also do some farming myself.. Is that a good idea? Or would I be financially troubled?

If it's not for you then it's not for you. It wasn't for me. After high school I took a semester off because after going to school for 12 straight years I needed it. And I hated college. The only class I liked was my theater class. I ended up dropping a class. And three weeks after finals I went to cosmetology school. That wasn't for me either and dropped when I only had 300 hours left. I'm very big on doing what makes you happy. I'm not going to force myself to do something I don't want to do. You shouldn't either.

I'm 30. I've gone to school on and off for 12 years, all in the education field. I've nannied, worked in preschools and daycares full time, all while taking classes. When I got married it was made clear that I would quit to be a stay at home mom. We got pregnant 3 weeks after the wedding. My daughter is now 13 months and were ttc #2. I hadnt found true happiness until I did so. While I can't tell you what to do, I can say that school will always be there and it is never too late to go back. Education is extremely important, it's something no one can ever take away from you and I intend on taking classes online while I'm home raising my babies. Moments with them, however, are priceless and you will never regret spending that time with them. I hope this was at all helpful. The decision is all yours and your husbands, don't  let anyone make it for you.

Unfortunately being a stay at home mom is really unrealistic in this day and age. It's always good to have a degree to fall back on even it's an associates degree as a medical assistant. If you do decide to get your 4-yr degree I would probably go for something practical like nursing or teaching. It's true that a lot of degrees aren't really worth the time and money but either of those would give you a fairly stable career once you get your foot in the door. Teaching especially is a great career for a mom to have.  Having a career will enable you to be prepared for any job issues your future husband might face. Obviously mech eng is a strong field but you never know. Anything could happen where you might become the sole provider for your family.

We can't tell you how to live your life or what to do as it relates to your future !!! You need to make they decision for yourself .. Education is always something to fall back on but that's my opinion as yours is different ... So you really have to look into the future with either option and see what fits for you good luck !!

If you're inheriting a farm, and you know you want to run it, I say go to college to learn better farming techniques, and/or maybe a business degree for the business side of the farm. It wouldn't hurt to have that available to you.

It's really up to you. I know school is not for everyone. Are you in a 4year school or 2 year school? You can aways start out with just a 2 year school. That way you have something. If down the road you want to go on you can. But know one can tell you what to do. Good luck

Even if you just get an associate's you NEED a degree! You never know what could happen in the furture. What if your husband gets injured and can't work anymore, so you then have to? What if divorce happens? What if the land you inherit doesn't pan out the way you expect? You need a degree to fall back on, it's so important!
