Boyfriends injuries

Cara
So my bf was hurt two years ago in Afghanistan, he is now a double amputee. It doesn't bother me that he is but he has become so self conscious about how he looks. He refuses to wear shorts with his prosthetics and will not go in public anymore without his legs on. I'm so happy he's alive and tell him I love him everyday but I feel like I'm failing as a support system because he has become so self conscious. I try to encourage him to try it atleast once without pushing but he won't. Tips or advice on how to help him? Or be a better support system?

Give him time I know two years seems like forever to you but In his eyes it still feels like yesterday. He will come around just continue to be as supportive as you can! My dh has been in the USMC for about 8 years with a few deployments and I have a few good friends whose husbands have suffered very similar injuries and it all just takes time I wish you two the best of luck

Always be there for him and don't push him. That will male him pull away. He should really reach out to the wounded warriors...my dad is retired USMC and my husband is active USMC and we have a few friends that are apart of wounded warriors and they are awesome. I can try ND get a phone number for you
