Do you agree with gender rolls? Why or why not?

I asked this previously but I think my wording was a bit off. I asked if you "believe in" them but obviously they exist. I was curious to hear opinions on whether or not gender roles should exist in our culture.

Gender roles are not just about who works and who cooks and cleans. 
Gender stereotyping happens when a man takes care of a child while the mother works, because that means that he is inferior to other men, just for caring for another life.
Gender stereotyping happens when anybody says that transsexual folk to not exist because. if you decide that the box you you're shoved into  is not what you want and you take a step to change things, then you are consider immoral and inferior to everyone else on the planet.
Gender roles offend me the most when a girls has sex more often than what society thinks is proper and women are reduced from human being to slut, and everything that she says or things is no longer relevant because she does not have sex the  society says she should. 
Gender roles are everywhere and they are so much a part of our culture that sometimes we don't even notice it. It needs to change.

When we put children in these "gender boxes" we stiffle their ability to grow, be happy, and mentally healthy. Many people learn to see past the gender roles, but I feel that everyone is hindered by what they are expected to be, instead of who they want to be.

I wear dresses but i played football and hapkido in school. I want babies and I support our household. Sometimes my bf just wants to cuddle. Lol! The traditional rolls are something that you have to be comfortable doing. Wanna be a stay at home mom? Go for it! Want to have your SO be the stay at home parent? Go for it! We live in a great time where women are no longer restricted to traditions and its a matter of choice now. Be the woman you want to be. ?

I think that there are things that a woman does better than a man and visa versa. I don't think it's demeaning to think that men and women are not equal in everything they could possibly do, but I don't believe genders should be put down.

Gender roles are oppressive to both sexes. If stuck with them, males are forced to be the ones to go out and work, women are forced to cook and clean, regardless of their personalities and wishes. I'm the opposite of a housewife - I'm shit at cooking and cleaning but you need someone to do heavy lifting? Get down and dirty in the mud? I'm there. And I've found a guy that's a fantastic cook, and doesn't have much muscles (nor desire to use them). So we have to equal things out (take turns cleaning, for example), which is how it should be, because it's an equal partnership, and no human 100% fits a 'standard' in the first place. Just do what compliments your individual styles and be happy.

I think it works for some and it doesn't work for others. For my husband and I he works and I stay home. Once we have children (if I can) we plan to have me stay at home til they are in probably middle school or so then I will get into my career (obviously if I can't have children that will happen sooner) however for us it works better for me to be home a ATM. We have one car and if I were to have a job I would have to take the transit making for 14-16 hr days and a very tired crabby me Lol and my husband enjoys happy me and coming home to a clean house and cooked meal. And I enjoy doing that for him with all his hard work to take care of me/us.

To some extent I do believe in gender roles . It really just depends what it is .
