What was you experience like with your IUD?

Hello everyone. I'm considering switching from the pill to the IUD because I like that it is the most reliable method of birth control (besides abstinence) and that I don't have to be bothered taking the pill everyday. If you've had an IUD before how was it for you? What changes did you experience? And do you recommend it?

I got on the merina about 18 months after i had my daughter and i kept it for the 5 years.  It worked great as a BC and i loved it but it didnt work with my body. I now have to deal with the issues it caused. Many friends and family members use the paraguard and merina. It works great for both.  Look into your body and chat with your doctor. Look into pros and cons.  Always remember everyone is different every body and female organs run differently.

I was on the pill for years and finally decided to switch to the IUD at the recommendation of my Gyn at the time. Getting it put in was EXTREMELY painful for me! I was out of work for days after getting it in! I ended up being ok for a fee months. I never got a period on it. Then I started getting awful cramps. To the point that I would cry. When I switched my GYn I told her about it she told me she never recommends it for women that have never had a child. She took it out in about a second and I went back on the pill. I am now off all hormonal BC. Using condoms only and I have never felt better! So it's up to you. I had a bad experience with the mirena so I probably wouldn't recommend it if you haven't had kids. If you don't have any children, I recommend Skyla. Its a smaller version of the bigger IUD and it's also recommend by doctors to get this one if you haven't had kids.

I would recommend it. I do not have a good pain tolerance at all. I'm a big baby lol. So it hurt really bad for a week but after that AMAZZING:)  the only reason it was painful is because they open your canal and if you Havnt had kids it's gonna hurt. 8 months later I barely hve a period :) I lost my sex drive with the pills and now it's back. I Havnt gained weight like I is with the pills. I'm back to the weight I was in high school. But some girls have had opposite of what I experienced. It's different for each girl. You can for tell how your body will handle it. I suggest getting it :)

The IUD is one of the best methods there is because you don't have to keep track of pills or dates,etc . I had the mirena which made my period lighter and less cramps. A sex benefits is the IUD thickens your walls??

The only problem I had with the Mirena was sometimes it can slip out so you have to always check your strings.
