Birth control

I started taking Birth Control last Friday. I had unprotected sex yesterday. Is there anything to worry about? He didn't finish inside of me, but never having birth control before has made me a little paranoid. My gyno told me that even while taking birth control I should still be using condoms. Any thoughts? Maybe you can ease my mind a little. Thank you!
