Keep same birth control?

So a couple months ago I went to the doctor with a big swollen arm to find out I had a blood clot in my shoulder. I was an active hitter on a Vball team. Some doctors are saying constant swinging let to the blood clot. Some thing the bc had a factor. I've been on the same bc for 4 years and no problems. Has anyone has this problem? I'm hoping they will let me go back to my normal bc. My doctor said I need to do something that doesn't has estrogen. I guess that's the leading harmone to blood clots. I don't see why going back to my normal bc would hurt me. Any opinions or inputs? If they truly won't let me I'm thinking the implant!
