I think the cost of a ring is the least important part of being with someone forever. Its a sign of love and he shouldn't have to buy your love. He needs to prove it himself not by what he puts on your finger.

I've made it clear to my guy that if he were to ever propose I expect a fully conflict free diamond. I'd rather have a smaller diamond or stone that no one died over than wear a giant blood diamond on my finger for the rest of my life

My engagement and wedding ring came from the Rez. It is the most beautiful ring ever. Diamond free. Silver and turquoise. No blood diamonds here thanks. I don't care for them. To each their own tho.

Diamonds mined by children? No thanks! A used ring if you must go diamond. Otherwise, plenty of fine American stones and American ethical metals out there.

I specifically asked NOT to have a diamond for this very reason. I don't want blood on my hands. Diamonds as an engagement ring is just something media tells us we need. I don't need an object to tell me my husband loves me - he does that quite well on his own. I have a pearl as my ring and I adore it.

No. My wedding ring is pure silver with a white sapphire. It looks like a branch. I love it. I like simple and diamonds seem frivolous to me.
