Losing faith?

I've been praying for a close relationship with God for a long time now.

He hears you. ? as long as you have asked him to be your Lord and Savior, he's there.

God wants you to be close to Him. Something that helped me was to stop thinking about what I was expecting and just listening instead.

RC Sproul has 20 excellent books called "Crucial Questions" that are free in ebook format. You can also find them on Amazon. (http://www.ligonier.org/blog/rc-sprouls-crucial-questions-ebooks-now-free/) they are a very easy read & cover the basics. I highly recommend them.

You cannot really have a close relationship with God until you start to truly understand who He really is, how truly wretched you are, what sin really is, & what salvation really means. The view of God in much of western culture is a joke. We really need to retire our brains, or as the Bible puts it "renew our minds."

I reallllly suggest the books A Beautiful Outlaw and Mere Christianity. I'd been searching for a while too and found out what a relationship was truly like after reading those. Also I loved the Gospel of Luke- you can really see the words in red and apply them in his Gospel I think...
