Spicing up sex

My boyfriend is almost ten years older than me but has never really experimented in the bedroom and I love to experiment. I've brought it to his attention many ways like asking him what he likes or telling him ideas on what I would like to try but he's not that open about it and if we are going to stay together I'd like to be able to have a very open sexual relationship. Anyone have any ideas on how I can get him to open up to it and try New things because I'm running out of ideas and hope And honestly kind of getting bored with sex.
