Does having a period mean that I for sure ovulated during that month? I can never get a positive ovulation test but I do have periods.

No, that does not mean you ovulate. I am going thru something similar. I have very regular periods (every 30 days to the t), and I'm not ovulating right now due to my thyroid. I have a severe case of hypothyroidism.  What time of the month are you taking OPK'S?  You could be just ovulating late/early.
