How long after BC pill does period regulate?

I've heard that it can take up to 6 months for periods to regulate after stopping the pill.. anyone have prior experience? I stopped the pill in September right before I got married in October and it seems now that I'm getting my period every 6 weeks or so.. is this normal? I was regular before going on BC. Have been on the pill for 4 years or so. Hoping to get back to a regular cycle soon as we are TTC baby #1.
