Scared of birth control

I'm scared to start my birth control again , I haven't been on birth control since I was 15 I'm 20 now , I get irregular periods. The last time I took birth control I ended up allergic to it. So now I'm freaking out and don't want to take it but I know my body needs it to have periods on time . I don't know what to do though :(
