Just needing to know why ?

I don't understand why. Why does it pain a nation to admit that we have a problem in our country? We tell other countries what to do and how to do it but we won't address an issue within our own country. Racism is real. It's a problem we need to talk about and fix. Why is it so wrong to just admit that to ourselves and then moving forward try to fix it.

Because we're told from birth how wrong it is to be unpatriotic and that if you love something you're not supposed to criticize it. 
Which isn't really how things work, but it's so much easier for white people to shove their fingers in their ears while they scream the pledge of allegiance so they don't have to think for themselves.

People aren't born racist, it's a symptom of environment. Until folks start ignoring the way they are raised (if their parents are racist) or stop living up to their stereotypes, I fear things will never change ?... I for one was raised in the south by a father who was brought up in the 40s-60's in GA, SC and TN... The South in the book/ movie, The Help, was his everyday life... However I am choosing to speak out towards his racism and bring my child up with loving and acceptance of all races in hopes that someday we can all live in peace.
