Working on Thanksgiving?

Do you think that it is fair for employees to have to work for Thanksgiving or should they get the same time with their families like the big CEOs do? Please posted your opinions on this, I'm curious just how many people feel the same way that I do about it.

I work at a homeless shelter so I will be working as well... but thanksgiving is one of the best days of the year to do my job.

I understand the need for police, emergency crews, doctors, and nurses to work but think retail businesses should be closed. If everyone refused to shop on thanksgiving stores would be closed next year.

I think thanksgiving off but it depends on the job....I'm a nurse and patients still need care holiday or not :/ so I'm working thanksgiving

It depends. I work in a hospital and though I hate the time away from my family, holidays are also my favorite days to work because you get to cheer up the patients who would otherwise be feeling just as bad.

I refuse to shop (year round) at any retail store that starts their black Friday sale on thanksgiving. Are we such a greedy and materialistic society that we expect people to be away from their families so we can shop??

I think everyone except essential people (hospitals, police, firemen, etc) should be off on thanksgiving.

I'm off because I'm a teacher but my bf runs a movie theater and works every holiday.

Both my husband and I do and probably always will work on almost every holiday. I guess after peanut comes we will celebrate around them lol
