Birth Control

My husband wants me too get on birth control starting January 2015 to regulate my periods and after one year of monitoring them we will try to conceive. I don't want to be in birth control for a year. My periodsare so irregular. We've been married for 6yrs and still no babies. Any suggestions? Thanks
