5W2D first appointment question

Now, I'm 5 weeks and called to do a blook work but they told me they don't do a blood test unless there's a pregnancy risk! I mean, really? My first blood test I actually just showed up there bc I was in pain with cramps and told them I had a positive test done at home, so I guess they just didn't want to send me home. Anyway s, when I called they only scheduled my app for when I'm about 9 weeks.  My friend told me that her first appt at 9 weeks they just talked to her and got a liquid for a test. When are we suppose to hear the heartbeat? I'm just annoyed because I think doctors just wait too long to do any type of exam.... Please tell how was your first app and is there anything I could do to schedule a heartbeat appt? Thank you
