TSS - should we be scared?

I've been reading in several different forums on here that a lot of women are still very scared/concerned of TSS. For the record, there have been 5 confirmed cases of menstrual related TSS in the US since 1997. This is because, when TSS was prevelant (~820 cases) in the '70s and '80s, tampon manufacturers used bad ingredients in the tampons which lead to a build up of harmful bacteria in the vagina. Since then, we've gotten our act together and even if you use a tampon that is larger than you need, there is a better chance of a coconut hitting you on the head in Chicago.
