Neurologist?

Question

I'm going to the neurologist soon (December 9th) due to frequent migraines and I'm really worried! I'm not familiar with this doctor and I'm not familiar with their practice. Could someone please tell me what's going to happen? Will they take blood, will they just write me a new prescription? I know it probably varies for many different doctors but could you please share your experience with me so that I can get a sense of what may happen?

Great news! This neurologist was really cool, and it turns out that he's the grandfather of my older sisters friend. Small world, huh? But he said that my kind of migraines are the most typical ones, and I'm starting a new prescription on Friday! He said there might be side effects, which is why he wants me to start them during the weekend.

Mine did blood work and had me keep a headache and food diary and what I was doing when I got one to see if they could find something that was triggering them. And they did an MRI cause I have a history of brain rumors in my family. They couldn't find anything with me. I hope you have better luck.

It's really nothing to be worried about. I see a neurologist for my migraines. The first visit they'll usually go over your health history and what medications you've been on, what's worked/what hasn't, how frequently you're getting headaches, etc. My dr asked me to keep a headache diary for about a month which was helpful in trying to identify any migraine triggers. I've also had cat scans and MRI's to make sure there wasn't a more serious cause. I don't think you should be nervous. Hopefully they can help!! Good luck.

I went to a neurologist when I was about 11, about constant stabbing headaches. I just remember them asking me questions, no bloodwork or anything, but it'll vary with what's wrong and what they think the causes are. I didn't have any problems though, they were fine

I have epilepsy and have had 2 brain surgeries. I love my neurologist? Nothing to be worried about, trust him/her and get better?

Im seeing nurologist for siezures i have epilepsy they study the brain so mayb ull have to do an MRI and an EEG. The mri is just images of ur brain u go into this tunel like thing very closterphobic so that wasnt fun and an eeg measures brain activity
