Anyone ever been on Effexor XR?

How did Effexor XR work for you guys? My doctor just switched my meds from Lexapro to Effexor XR?

I took Effexor for a few months. I had what felt like shocks of electricity go through my brain very half hour or so. If I forgot to take a pill for even an hour I couldn't function. My dr refused to switch it or take me off so I stopped cold turkey. Never been so sick but after a few days I felt so much better. Never needed to stuff anyway but the dr said I did.

I'm on Lexapro at the moment, 40mg. Never better! Tried 20mg of Effexor and when I wasn't asleep, I was nauseous or vomiting.

Yes, I take the generic and it works very well for me. I tried Zoloft a few years ago, and I was a mess.

It worked decently for me years ago.  Just whatever you do, do NOT go off it without tapering.  My doctor did not understand this and I got super super sick.  Also make sure you can go from one to the other without tapering... That or you could get super sick too.
