Explaining "no god" to children
First off, I realize that posting this anonymously makes me a big fat wuss. If you can get past that, I'm really interested in some input based on actual experiences.
My husband and I were raised Catholic. Both of us, independently at some point in our lives, realized that the mythology behind Christianity and other religions is nonsensical (except for the historical objective of leaders controlling the masses). That is, we don't believe in supernatural beings.
We totally respect that many other also-good people believe differently, and we are totally closeted in our beliefs for fear of ignorant judgement. In fact, my toddler attends a Christian daycare (because they provide good care).
So, I was wondering... Are there any others here that are grappling with how to explain that religion and "god" are limiting, supernatural concepts to your kids someday? How do you do this in a way that a child can understand? Any experiences you can share would be greatly appreciated!
