Shallow boyfriend!!!

My boyfriend says that if I get an industrial (scaffolding) piercing he can't guarantee that he would stay with me. It's an ear piercing that I've wanted for a while now but he says he wouldn't be attracted to me if I had it? Does this seem really shallow?
This is a picture of an industrial piercing, I already have a very small discreet lip ring, a single lobe piercing in my right ear and a double lobe piercing with a small stretcher taper in the right. So it isn't like I'm overly pierced or going over the top. Feel like I'm being controlled a bit? Idk has anyone got any opinions?
