Periods on the implant...

I've been on various BC's and I've been on the nexplanon for 3 months now but my doctor said I would have little to NO PERIODS. but I have been bleeding for like 3 weeks now. It started out light and now it's almost heavy... like is it me? Or is it just a really bad side affect?
