Appetite on period

Is it normal for me to eat a lot more calories on my period and still feel dissatisfied/hungry? I track my calories and usually eat about 1600 a day or less but I ate 2200 today and felt so hungry the whole day. Also I gained 3 lbs (in water weight I'm assuming cause I didn't over eat the day before and I exercised)  the morning my period started. Is all this normal? If so how do I surpress my hunger and/or should I just eat more on my period. Is it true you burn more calories on your period therefore it's good to eat more? Also gave into foods I usually wouldn't eat like an icecream sandwich and cinnamon roll. Thanks any advice appreciated!:) ?
