Need insights :/

My husband and I are trying to conceive, I have a 7 year old, and a 3 year old. Beginning of this month my period Was only 2 days long, heavy, then spotting to nothing within a day's time, I don't want to test too soon but I'm doubtful it will be positive, usually it's 5-7 days, odd it was so short. Just wondering if anyone has ever had this happen to them. I know everyone is different, not quite sure what to think and not getting my hopes up.
