Ovulation spotting? Please help!

I'm on cycle day 21, just started my fertile week. My cycles range from 31-38 days lately. Saturday I was having mild pain on my left side that could have been ovulation who not sure. Monday we had sex and after I had some brownish blood, then Tuesday and today it was red spotting- looked like period blood but not a lot of it. I used to spot a lot while I was on the pill and my gyn just thought it was my reaction to the hormones (she did lots and lots of tests). I went off my pill in August and this spotting just started last month sorta around this time (day 23-26). 
Anyone ever have this? I'm reading that ovulation spotting can be normal I'm just worried if it's red blood and lasting a few days, even if it is light.

I'm going to the doc tuesday. October 17th was a day late from my scheduled start. Brown spotting for two weeks. Called doc put me on pill to get me regular. Was suppose to start in November. Nothing. Actually started Tuesday early morning. By 2 brown spotting till Thursday. Then yesterday started a pink, red spotting. Doc said not sure so doing ultra sound to rule out oregnancy, because I can either be 4 1/2 months or 4 weeks (most likely not since only had brown spotting in October) and to rule anything else out. Then blood work and continue this pill to get a reg period flow again. Anyways if you feel uncomfortable like I told my doc he said something may not be right. I'd set up an appointment to be in the safe side. Worse case... Our body's hate us right now..
