Would you eat your placenta!?!

Friend decided to eat her own place by a because of her personal beliefs( its her first baby). She took in in pill form. I was still a bit weirded out. Someone please explain to me the benefits so that I can be more supportive

There is not "verified" sciene behind this....BUT there are lots of animal examples to go by. There are animals who eat their placenta and nothing bad happens to them. I, personally, thing that dehydrating it probably takes some of the nutrients out. But, just my opinion. We are only trying, never successfully, so I can't give my own testimony, but I think I will pass on eating raw placenta. HOWEVER, I do 100% believe in cord blood! My partner says, "you're going to bankrupt me by the time we finally get a baby," but.......

I'm having mine put into capsules. It helps for the hormonal adjustment after you have the baby so you are still getting a small dosage of "baby vitamins" every day instead of just being empty all at once. Also, the placenta has an incredible amount of stem cells which are proven to help with the healing process. It stimulates good breast milk production as well. I would never be able to "eat" it lol. But swallowing a small pill for a few months isn't bad at all.

I don't think I could personally do it. I have an aversion to other things people eat too though, like liver and shellfish, oysters, etc. I have heard there were lots of benefits. More power to you, if you can stomache it! To each their own.

We bread little dogs and the mom tried to eat one of the fully grown puppies that had died a day after birth from a cleft palet. Apparently this is common in animals too. Of course MY mind has to match the two species; GROSS!

Placentas are very nutritional and especially for primitive lifestyles, they can help women gain back the nutrients lost when giving birth. With that being said, most people now days do not live primitive lifestyles, so it really isn't necessary. But if that's what she wants to do than go her!

People claim it helps with postpartum depression, shrinking your uterus faster, inproving milk production, and just making you feel good. However for some women it can make them feel terrible. I say if you can afford it, have the pills made and worst case is you stop taking them if they make you feel bad.

I have seen 4 placentas...three from me & one from my sister...I couldn't! If someone else chooses to that awesome, but I don't think it's for me

Not a chance. People take it because it is supposed to help reduce postpartum depression but there is also a bunch of people who have had the opposite effect. Animals do eat their placentas. But they eat it for iron. There are plenty of sources of iron that does not involve swallowing your placenta (that's not the only way people say it either, some fry it or bake it or dry it out blech.. No judgment!) ☺ I do find it gross though.
