Boyfriend doesn't like to make out :(

My boyfriend and I are in a very happy relationship. I love him and he loves me. The first times we ever kissed, it was passionate and open mouthed and he was good at it and all, but since then he has said that he has never enjoyed open mouthed kissing. I want to and I like to do that before we lead into other things, but since he's said that it makes me feel bad if I just make him kiss me deeper than just the pecks he gives me. Is it selfish of me to want more than that?
