Birth Control and MS

Recently I've heard that there have been links found between the birth control pill and development of multiple sclerosis (MS). My mother has MS and I may be extra susceptible to it. I'm not comfortable with other forms of birth control, save for condoms, and those aren't necessarily the most reliable. I currently am not on any form of birth control medication and I want to go on the pill but I'm concerned that I'd be putting myself at risk.
