What is marriage to you?

Past few days visiting glow, couldn't help but noticing marriage problems. Usually its always about leaving and feel people cant take the time and effort to work through their relationships. So I want to know how people see marriage to see if I could understand why majority are quick to throw it all away. Just know personally I have been through way worst and I am able to get through anything with my husband. We learn and grow together. Help me understand!!

To me marriage is a partnership that consist of equal contribution and teamwork and not to mention support my husband and i are not perfect but we have grown together and have learned to live in harmony with each others differences and appreciate our similarities, the things we have in common gives our relationship chemistry but its our differences that makes our marriage stronger

I think marriage is a commitment. I wouldn't agree to marry someone that I wasn't sure I could live through hard times, with the exception of cheating or abuse. But that being said I think a lot of ppl get married too young or too fast and grow apart. I don't think anyone should stay married if they are miserable and want out. That's not fair to anyone involved.

Honestly? I've seen a lot of marriages fail due to the sociological change from social media. It's so much easier to look into your high school sweetie.. See what he's doing... Or ask advice from a complete stranger for an unbiased opinion.

I'm a tech freak, I love it. But I've seen it change people. Our social behaviors aren't what they were. I believe a lot of these marital issues could be avoided if more face to face communication were occurring instead of venting to people you don't know, who's advice is almost always "well leave him". Once that seed is planted, there's no turning back.

In my household- no technology period from 5-bedtime. It's family time. It's talk about your day time. I'd like to see more of the "old school" social norms make a comeback.

You gotta be super sure of your decision before you take those vows, any doubts you should walk away. Marriage is super hard (at times) you both have to want to make it work and really try. Every marriage will have hard times eventually, you need a strong partner worth fighting for. My hubby and I were children of divorced parents, marriage vows are not taken lightly, we even did a special "covenant" marriage that is harder to end, so we don't fall into the trap of giving up too easily. We have been together for 16 years, married for 10, although we knew in the first year we were going to get married eventually, we took our time, though longer than we originally planned, still best decision I ever made ;)

It's sad that about 50% of marriages end in divorce, I think mainly because people marry too young, choose the wrong person or give up too early.

To me, marriage is a life time commitment. (Unless there's addiction, abuse, or cheating.) I made a promise to stand by my husband and be with him through all the good and the bad. If we have an issue, hard time, disagreement or whatever we will work it out. I think a lot of people give up, but I've also seen one spouse try to get help for the marriage, like couples therapy, and the other spouse be completely unresponsive. I could see that as a reason for divorce too. I put addiction as a reason for divorce because my moms first husband was an alcoholic, and if she hadn't divorced him and met my dad, my sister and I wouldnt be here. I think a lot of people who get married young will probably have a harder time adjusting to marriage, but if our grandparents could get married at 18 or 19 and still be married to this day then young couples can do it too

To me marriage is forever unless he cheats or became abusive in some way. He knows this and agrees. I think some people give up too quickly. But it seems quite a few of those people already have their eye on someone else. The grass isn't always greener.

I'm not married yet, but marriage is a commitment. I don't understand people who get married and then don't make the effort to stay married. I think some people rush into it not knowing how much work it is.

Not to mention cheating. Cheating is defintely a good reason for divorce. The bible states that adultery is a sin! If your partner has enough disrespect to go and cheat on you then what makes you think he or she will ever stop. To me it also shows that they no longer have feeling for you or they do not care enough about you.
