Longer, bigger babies?

Question

My husband is 6'7". My brothers are 6'8" and 6'9". I am 5'9". My brothers in law are also quite tall. I am 23 weeks now and am showing, but not hugely so. I am smaller than my friends at this stage.

Our son at 12-13 weeks gestation was apparently above the 97th percentile for length. He weighs (estimated) a bit more than Glow says is natural. Let's face facts - the kid isn't going to be tiny. So... Have any of you had big babies? How did labor go? Are you tall yourself? I am quite worried that this kid is going to rip me in two, despite my height. Stories? Advice?

So funny you posted this! I'm 5'0" and my husband is 6'3". I'm definitely a little concerned that this baby may be almost as tall as me at birth! LOL!

My first son was 8lbs 6oz, I delivered him vaginally without a single tear. I am due with my next one tomorrow so I guess I will see how big she is soon.

I pray the one I'm having now won't be 10lbs! I'm 5'10" and husband is 6'4".
I naturally tore with my first and had three stiches. The other kids....no tears or episiotomy and I never ever pushed more than 15 mins with any of them. My doc w/ number 2 said I had great hips for childbirth ? (while I was in stirrups in delivery room)

Yep! My husband is 6'5" and I'm 5'11". My oldest was my lightest at 9lbs 4oz. My youngest was my biggest at 10lbs even. They've all gotten progressively heavier (and all around 21 1/2 - 22 inches long) so I'm a little worried of just how big this baby boy is going to be! I've had them all vaginally and I only pushed for about 10 minutes max - usually just a couple pushes and they're out. I'm pretty skinny and always have a small bump. The nurses are always surprised at how big my kids are. :) Your body can do amazing things. Best of luck to you!!

My sister was 10 lbs when she was born. My mom said it happened really fast..only labored for abt 3 hrs. She had a natural birth with no pain medication or epidural. My mom is only 5'7" and was pretty small, she didn't even tear! Like others have already said, try not to worry about it your body can do amazing things!

I'm 5'7 and my husband is 6'2 my daughter was born at 8.9, 21 inches. Not huge but surprising because I only gained 10 lbs my entire pregnancy. I was in labor for quite a while but she was out in 3 pushes and I  tore just a tiny bit. I'm now pregnant again and this baby is already measuring larger. You'll be able to do it!!!

I feel the same way.  while I'm
only 5'5", the men in my family are all above 6', as are my husband and his family.  my husband's family has on average 8 lbs babies that are 21+ inches.  my siblings and I were just under 8 lbs and 21-22 inches long. at our anatomy scan at 18 weeks, our little (big) man was measuring a week ahead by femur length and weight. we have another growth scan tomorrow and we're anxious to see how big he's gotten. I am worried about having a big baby, mostly because I do not want a c-section. as long as he's healthy, though, he can be as long and as chubby as he wants!!

I'm 5'3 ex was 6'4" daughter was 8lb 14 oz measured big thru whole pregnancy they even checked me for gestational diabetes lol ... Everything was fine she was and is still a big girl@9!!!!

My husband is 6'4", im 6'1.5". Our son was 9lbs 14.6 oz and one week late. I had to get induced.. My dr didn't want him to get any bigger. Lol. My labor was under 12 hrs and just under an hr of pushing. I def got the epidural haha.
