Are you having your little boy circumcised?

Question

Found out we are having a boy and my partner is really keen to have him circumcised because he is (comes from Jewish family although not interested in the religion himself). I'm really not keen - seems unnecessary. Anyone else having this dilemma?

Living in the north of England I don't know any men who are circumcised. Obviously they probably will be out there but it's not the done thing. People on here talk about doing it for hygiene reasons but I guess to that I would say it's up to parents to teach their sons good hygiene

I voted no to the question of circumcision, but it was a dilemma for us too. In the end, we decided not to, even though his father is. I couldn't shake the idea that it was non-consensual modification of his body, but to each their own.

Not counting religious reasons for circumcising (which I don't agree with either), I've never understood why parents can't simply wait until their son is an adult and can make his own decision about whether he wants his foreskin amputated. Why the rush to decide for him?

Our first son isn't and I told my husband that if he wanted him to be, he'd have to go along and watch the procedure ;) I'm 22 weeks with our second boy and it's not even a discussion point. Honestly, we talked about it quite a bit before our first boy and mutually decided that it's not necessary.

My older son is, my husband is and this new little boy will be too.  It's never really been an option for me not to do it, I have always said we would have it done for sure!  But it's entirely up to you!  :)

My husband and I were on opposite ends of it my entire pregnancy. I was against and he was for. He realized after much research there really is no solid proof that it is any healthier but he wanted it done because it's how his looks. I was against doing something that I believe is cosmetic to my child when he is only 2 days old. So the day after we had our son and our pediatrician came to check him I said no to it and to our surprise our pediatrician told us good because apparently our son's skin on his penis would require an actual surgery and he would have to have it done after 6 months of age. Our oed told us about 50/50 are not done now a days and that there is no real benefit. Teach your child to wash right and you'll have no worries. Our son was born the way is was meant to be

We are all gods creation we are born how nature intended. Its absolutely barbaric a mother opting for her newborn baby to suffer this pain and get sliced. I mean its to be taken into consideration if it is medically needed. Wtf is wrong with people!!!! Let the baby form into an adult and make their own damn decisions. The baby suffers during childbirth also, then it has to endure this???? I would break my heart watching that. No God would wish this on his children.

I would never have this done to my baby!!! I would fight my partner on this if I had to. Luckily I don't because a) he is not circumcised and is strongly against it as wlel and b) we are having a girl. You obviously  aren't totally okay with it!!! And you're right it is unnecessary! Maybe he needs to read more research about it and might change his mind a little?

My partner wants our boy to be circumcised as well and I am against it. But ultimately I think this is not my battle, and am giving this decision to him. But I don't feel great about it...
