When and Who to tell

Just wondering what everyone's opinions are on telling people. I was TTC so I found out I'm pregnant pretty early. I am 4wks5days, I have obv told my mom and some close friends. But many people say you should wait until like 2 months to tell people. Is this an old fashioned notion? I would really love to tell my family on Christmas but my first Dr appt isn't until Jan 13th. Any thoughts?

I've gone back and forth on this. I'm 6w4d and wanted to announce it to all my friends and family over Christmas. I think it really is personal preference. My immediate family know already but I can't help but want to tell everyone. I know the risks of miscarriages are really high in the first trimester, but miscarriages can also happen at any time during the pregnancy and for any reason. I personally want to tell people because I want to celebrate this beautiful gift God gave me for however long I can. So I've decided to tell people over Christmas. If I do miscarry, I'll have tons of love and support from all my friends and family. But like I said, it's definitely a personal opinion and I think it depends on how open of a person you are and if you'd feel comfortable having a lot of people know if the worst were to happen and there was a miscarriage. Congratulations to you though!!! You have a beautiful Christmas miracle growing inside you and it should celebrated!!

I'm 4-5 weeks and with Christmas less than a week away it seems like the perfect time to tell parents - both my husbands and mine wi be over the moon!! You're 'suppos ' to wait 12 weeks just incase as first trimester anything can happen but I'd like that love and support if anything was to happen...I'm staying positive, I have no reason not too! Everyone is different and there's no right or wrong way - whatever feels right for you!

I think it depends. I found out early as well I'm 3 weeks 6 days. We plan on telling our parents and siblings on Christmas. We plan on telling a few close friends on New Year's Eve. We are telling these people because they are our support system. We don't plan on telling anyone else till after the first trimester is over

We are 4 weeks 2 days and are likely going to tell our parents and siblings on Christmas and waiting until 12 weeks to tell anyone else. After 12 weeks the risk of miscarriage goes down, but if something was to happen I would want support from my parents and sister. It's so hard to decide what to do, but go with your gut! It's your pregnancy, so do what feels right!

I'm 5w1d right now, so will be almost 6 on Christmas. Normally we probably wouldn't waited longer but we can't pass up Christmas as an opportunity to tell our immediate family. Just seems too perfect with w everyone in town and together. Getting more blood work the 23rd so if everything looks good, we are telling. Also, going on vacay over New Years w our best friends and since I won't be drinking, they will def know. So we want our parents to know before friends.

I'm 3w6d today and I'm telling my family at Christmas while also making it clear that we JUST found out and I won't even have my first appointment for like a month. I'm telling them at Christmas because we'll see them in person (live in different states) but otherwise I probably wouldn't say anything until maybe 6-8 weeks. And I'm not telling on FB until at least 12 if not waiting until we know the sex ... But I am pretty private honestly.

I'm 4w and am taking a second blood test on Monday to make sure my levels are going in the right direction. I have pcos and this was our first attempt at ttc so we are a little apprehensive but will probably tell family at Christmas and friends at New Years and everyone at 12w. Hopefully they can confirm my 2 tests plus my first blood work I did yesterday before Christmas Eve!
