Do you need a SO in your life?

Question

Wondering how many folks feel like the love of another brings them value and/or worth. Are we in our current relationship voluntarily or by some subconscious need for validation and security?

I WANT him in my life because I love him so very much. He is my world. However I don't NEED him. I can take care of myself and provide for myself if he weren't in my life. Luckily he loves me as much as I love him and we fight to keep our relationship strong and keep each other in our lives.

The want and desire to love him is so prodigious that if he were to be absent from me tomorrow for the rest of my life, I would mentally be ruined and wear a monotone face with a cold shoulder for the rest of my days. It would take a miracle to help me move on. I could care less if I was alone or surrounded by family, my husband is the only person who knows my deepest intellects and understands every aspect of me inside and out. We mirror each other almost perfectly in an extremely unique way. My husband is the only mate perfect for me and I thank God for him every day :)

I don't need him but I do want him. He's my best friend and I love him. However, I'd be okay if I was single too. I think being dependent on someone for everything is not healthy

I do need him now. But let me explain.

I have always been independent. Never "looked" for a man. I've dated, had relationships, but I never needed them.

My husband has made me a better woman, and I've made him a better man. We've both grown together as a couple, as a family, and individually since we have been together. He is my rock and I am his. He is my best friend and my soul mate. To say I never lived before him is an Understatement. I've lived, but I've never realized the value of life and love until him. 
I have a daughter who is not biologically his. When I saw him love her, I knew he was honestly in love with me. 
I don't need him financially, or in any other way besides love. I need him emotionally because he makes me feel like there is no one else in the world but us and our family.

I think it's a little of both. Humans naturally need the feel safe and belong in relationships in order to achieve self actualization. For those that don't know it's a psychologist term which basically means self fulfillment, or being the best that you can be.

I am one of those ppl that prefers long term relationships rather than dating. I find people i can have in my life of a while, even if i know it wont be forever. It's given me great relationship practice and now i am with the man of my dreams in a perfect relationship because of all the practice ive had in my past.
