Cramping, spotting?

I quite taking my daily birth control pill last night. My period doesn't start for another week. I'm spotting, is this due to stopping the birth control?

Answer

It's possible. When you have a period on birth control pills, you're actually having what's known as withdrawal bleeding. Your body is used to the hormones you're putting in there every day and after about 4 days of no active pills, you bleed.
