How do you deal with opinions on your name choices?

In real life that is. We just stopped telling people since everyone gives their two cents on why we should choose such and such instead, it's annoying.

I've got 2 kids. I don't really care if anyone else likes the names I've chosen but it can be annoying to have someone critique your choices. In my experience, if you're still pregnant and share your name choices most people will feel comfortable sharing their opinions on the name. However if you wait til after the baby is born and announce the child's name most people are less likely to share their negative thoughts. Even if they don't like the name they rarely say so when the baby is in their face. So if you don't want to hear people's opinions I'd wait until after your LO gets here.

This is exactly why we aren't sharing name ideas with anyone. Once the baby is born it would take someone with a lot of nerve to make a negative comment about the baby's name. People will get used to whatever you pick.

My BFF knows and my mom knows our top picks. Most people know our boy name, as its a family name. Our girl pick, I'll hear a lot of crap about (my mom hates it), but it's a family name as well. So it's staying a secrect until/if a girl comes along.

Simple: keep it a secret from everyone. Not even my mom knows our top name. We haven't totally decided on a name but I'm pretty much set so I'm just waiting for DH to fully come around to it. Even when they happens, no one's going to know his name until after he's born.
