What is the difference between the two

A chemical is a pregnancy that won't show up on ultrasound.  A ectopic will but must be terminated as it is growing in your tubes.

Ectopic is when the fertilized egg never makes it to the uterus and instead implants in the Fallopian tube. Chemical is when the body gears it's hormones up like its pregnant, but then for whatever reason, the egg never attaches at all.

An ectopic pregnancy is a fertilized egg that implants somewhere other than the uterus...most commonly in the tubes. A chemical pregnancy is a very early miscarriage. It can implant in the uterus but does not continue to grow usually do to some sort of abnormality and therefore,an early miscarriage occurs. It is called a chemical because it can only been proven positive by a urine or blood test. It is too early to see on ultrasound.
