How can I get people to call me kimberley and not kim?

My name's Kimberley but people call me Kim and I hate it. I never tell people I prefer Kimberley because I don't want to sound stuck up. How can I get people to call me Kimberley?

I just say I prefer Kymberlee. Nobody is gonna think youre stuck up unless you actually are. Its only a name preference :)

It's your name. And you like Kimberly better. My frustration and daily question at my job is "oh what's matti short for?" I wanna scream NOTHING. Lol just approach them nicely and let them know you prefer Kimberly not Kim. It's not stuck up in anyway and if they take it that way, that's there personal issue not yours hun. Let them know! 😊

I had this problem at work. My name is Dominique but people love to call me "DOM". I freaking hate that and I don't answer to it.  I told them they could call me Nique for short or Dominique. I didn't care what they thought about it because its my name. Tell them you do not like being called Kim, they won't know until you tell them.

I would correct them politely. If they continue to call you Kim, they are the one being rude and you can start ignoring or be more forceful in your correction. Kim isn't your name. It's the same as someone calling you Angie, not your name and there's nothing wrong with correcting them.
