Spotting between periods??

I am 17 days away from when my period is supposed to start and I am having really deep red spotting with lots of clots in it, Yesterday and today. I spotted twice yesterday and then had no more for the rest of the day, same with today. But it's heavy..

Is this something I should call my doctor with or is this something I should just roll with and keep an eye on?

Have never experienced this before, so I'm just not sure what to think.
