Flu shot pregnant

It's recommended that I get one. 13 1/2 weeks pregnant now. Is it necessary? My husband got a flu shot and still got the flu, he just got over it a few days ago. If it doesn't protect against the new straind what is the point? I have a doctors appointment Monday and plan on asking just wanted some opinion. And we were very careful while he was sick btw even used different bathrooms and I labeled everything he used "sick" haha
