My son asked today if he can have his own Facebook account. Some of his friends already have one. We recently moved and he says he wants to use it to keep in touch with old friends.

He is dyslexic but enjoys sending messages to friends and family including my parents who are abroad most of the year. They (parents) have said by reading and writing he'd be developing these skills in a different way.

I'm tempted to say no. But I'm also 100% sure I'd monitor it daily, ensure his privacy and set alerts to my phone.

He is 8 years old.
