Can you sense/smell when you're period is coming?

Question

My friend and I were discussing how we can sometimes sense an iron smell before our periods begin. Even if I shower (I clean with Summers eve products) then go pee, I can smell an iron scent. I've always had extreme sense of smell as does my friend. Are we weird or normal? Lol thanx girls

I've never noticed a different sent until I actually get my period then it does definitely smell like iron. 
I usually know because my back will start hurting two days before

Totally normal lol. I always smell when it's coming. Sometimes 4-5 days before too.

My DH is super sensitive to smell...he usually catches it before I do

I get horrible death feeling cramps the day before so that's how I know. I never noticed a diferent smell so I know because I get horrible cramps the day before
